Tennessee Rain Blues
I sing an undesirable Blues
Through Tennessee Rain
Though my ears hear no flaws
I can taste the slight imperfections in the air
My eyes see nothing
a blur into a sleepless silence
I sing an undesirable Blues
Through Tennessee Rain
I know she doesn't love me... no more
No I don't sleep anymore...
I hear the raindrops
with tears forgetting when love felt so nice
I sing an undesirable Blues
Through Tennessee Rain
My heart's truest rule... amnesia!
to feel so close to death yet to survive...
you must learn to forget what's on the other side
I rise to find a garden of Forget Me Nots
Yet I wonder if someone remembered me?
I sing an undesirable Blues
Through Tennessee Rain
Forget all that Jazz makes no difference when Love dies
No one wants to hear a grown man's cries
my spirit takes a beating each time I meet love... asking why?
If love so nice why does it hurt so bad
sleep is the only vice for a broken heart
sleep the bringer of dreams
dreams bring her rushing back
I seen her riding on a white mare through the rain
kicking up waves of cold Mississippi River Mud upon my face
She ran by like a train without a track
She left her mark on me that day at the park by the river
now she's gone without a sliver to hold or a spark to see
I sing an undesirable Blues
Sitting on a Memphis rock by the Mississippi shore
playing my Tennessee Rainy Blues
I cannot find sleep... while many sunsets sweep on Little Rock
I sit here and no matter how sad my song this stone will not weep
the aches become a large dark area upon my brain
becoming a tornado raging to cross Beale Street
I'm leaving sweet Memphis
with an amnestic heart, I could never remember this pain come tomorrow
So I sing this Blues to remember Tennessee Rain
Cause no matter how the wind blows... I'll make it through.
